Photodisinfection for Food Safety

Ondine Biomedical, will present the findings of the first development phase of a food-safe photodisinfection technology for Canada’s meat packing industry on Wednesday 12th April, 2023.

The project phase, which was funded in part by the Government of Canada under the Canadian Agricultural Partnership’s AgriScience Program, involved identifying and screening potential food-safe photosensitizers for efficacy against bacterial biofilms common in food processing. These light-sensitive substances could be used in combination with specific wavelengths of light to disinfect food and surfaces in the food industry.
